FAITH FORMATION
PROGRAMS AT REDEEMER

Church of the Redeemer
Offers programs for parishioners ages 3 to adult.

Our Mission Statement

Led by the Spirit, faith formation at Redeemer flows from the Sunday liturgy. It embraces all ages and generations, and supports the key role of the home in nurturing faith. Through catechesis and faith-sharing, we as individuals and as a community are formed to live as the Body of Christ in our world. We are given opportunities to hear and respond to God’s ongoing invitation to deeper faith.

FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMS

Adults - ADULT FAITH FORMATION (AFF) "The Catholic bishops of the United States call the Church in our country to a renewed commitment to Adult Faith Formation positioning it at the heart of our catechetical vision and practice." (Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us -- USCCB, 1999) Find out what AFF is all about!

Preschool/Kindergarten - Classes for ages 3 through kindergarten meet during the Liturgy of the Word at Saturday and Sunday Masses from September to May. Children go to their classrooms before Mass begins and return to the worship space at the time of the offertory.

Elementary (Grades 1 - 5) - Our elementary program  combines large group activities and grade-level catechesis. Classes are offered Mondays, 5:00-6:15 and 6:30-7:45, and Wednesdays, 4:00-5:15, beginning in late September and ending the first week of May.  A home-school option is also available.  To assist parents in their role as primary educators, we ask elementary parents to sign up for a session they will be able to attend with their children so they can participate in our gatherings and closings and assist with the many areas needed.

Youth (Grades 6 - 10) -  Through social time, large group catechesis and grade level small group discussions we offer an exciting and interactive program for our youth.  Classes are offered on Sundays, 11:30-1:30 and 6:00-8:00, beginning in late September.

Grade 11 (2nd Year Confirmation) - Classes meet on Sundays, 11:30 - 1:30. Students must have completed the 10th grade program.

G.I.F.T. - Due to the building process this year, GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) Weeks will be "under development."  We hope to be able to offer a GIFT Week in May to celebrate the completion of our new space.

F.I.R.E. (Family-centered Intergenerational Religious Education) - Our “family-centered” option, enters its fifth year. Groups of 4 to 6 families gather in homes twice a month. In F.I.R.E. all ages learn and share faith (and fun!) together.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

By diocesan policy, students must have completed one year of religious education classes before registering for sacramental preparation, and programs for First Eucharist and Reconciliation are independent of religious education classes. Students in 2nd grade and older are eligible to prepare for Eucharist and Reconciliation. Preparation for Confirmation begins by completing the 10th grade religious education program, and then enrolling in the Confirmation program in 11th or 12th grade.

CICCA (Christian Initiation of Children of Catechetical Age)

The CICCA process is for children age 8 and older who have not process is for children age 8 and older who have not been baptized or who have been baptized in another Christian tradition and would like to enter the Catholic Church.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to leave the assembly for their own liturgy of the word at weekend Masses. They are dismissed after the opening prayer, and return during the offertory song.

For more information, or to register for any of these programs, please call Terry Colville, Minister of Religious Education, at 746-4911, ext. 14.

We welcome your presence and support. Our young people are wonderful, spirited, and provide a continual opportunity for our own renewal as well. Please think about sharing your time and talents with our formation programs. We need everyone to help in some way - we will provide training!
