Recently, Bishop Sullivan appointed a special task force made up of persons
from the Diocesan Priest's Council and Pastoral Council, as well as members
of the diocesan staff to discuss the current and future life of the diocese.
After an extended discernment process, that body presented a position
statement entitled
"We've Come This Far By Faith" (73k MS Word Document).
Bishop Sullivan also asked each Parish to discern their answers to four
questions posed to the diocesan task force.
To come up with Redeemer's statement, we queried the Pastoral Council,
Finance Council and Stewardship Council for their responses to the four
questions posed in the Bishop's request. We then solicited responses
from our ministry groups, and finally, we asked the parish at large for
their input. All responses were compiled into logical categories, which
were presented to the Pastoral Council. From there, the information was
distilled into essay style answers designed to include as much of the
submitted information as practical. The essay text was then reviewed
by a committee of Council members who submitted additional revisions to
come up with the final text.The Redeemer Pastoral Council, Finance Council
and Stewardship Council have all been asked to submit their answers to
these questions, and the opportunity is also available for individual
parishioners to do the same.
