ALL SPACED OUT…

“Hey, Leroy, can you give me a hand.  It’s so crowded in here there’s NO ROOM for me and this big box.  We’ll have to lift it up and over!”

“Nina, Mike wants to know where to put the shipment UPS just delivered.  There’s NO ROOM for ‘em in here!”

“Terry, six more families want to enroll second graders in RE classes on Monday evenings.  What’ll I tell them?

Every class is full up and there’s NO ROOM to set up another section!”

“Pat, we had 15 parishioners sign up to help with the upcoming social.  How are we going to utilize them? There’s NO ROOM in the kitchen for more than two or three people at a time!”

Sharon, where can we put all this parish memorabilia?  There’s NO ROOM for it anywhere!”

Get the picture?  Redeemer is spaced out…and then some!  There’s NO ROOM in the inn!  We’re still growing; we’re still trying to accommodate new personnel, new programs, and new parishioners.  But there is, quite simply, NO ROOM left.  Redeemer desperately needs more office space, more storage space, more classroom space, a larger and more efficiently equipped kitchen—just to name the more pressing needs the parish has.  Day by day the space situation becomes more crucial, and it has become increasingly more evident that the time has come to expand.

To plan the best possible way(s) to alleviate the current space crunch , Fr. Jim has appointed a Building Committee to oversee an expansion/renovation process.  This ten-person committee already has begun monthly meetings to define as many ways as possible to involve the entire parish in determining both current and future parish needs.

Bob Birmingham has been discerned chair of the new Building Committee and Martha O’Keefe will serve as secretary.  Other parishioners named to the core committee include:  Mary Atkinson, Mark Carpenter, Chris Fallon, Gary Hall, Adele Minter, Joe O’Connor, Canova Peterson, and Sharon Phillips.  Seven subcommittees are being formed, whose members will help fine-tune the building process:  (1) Architectural; (2) Art & Furnishings;  (3) Fund Raising; (4) Hospitality/Kitchen; (5) Needs Assessment/Data Collection; (6) Publicity; and (7) Construction Oversight.

The input, understanding, and cooperation of all parishioners will be essential to help the Committee put into motion the best possible plans to solve Redeemer’s NO ROOM problems.
