| Community Life sponsored “An Evening with Maynard and Friends” on Saturday, February 14th, starting at 8 PM. | ||
| Maynard Belongia, a parishioner of Redeemer, began his musical
career at the age of three. Being “blessed with perfect pitch” and formal
training for many years, Maynard won a Liberace sponsored statewide contest
for young classical pianists and was invited to perform at the Hollywood
Bowl with Liberace. His entertainment career spans many years and includes
serving in the United States Air Force, entertaining in USO Shows and musical
director for service revues, numerous radio and television performances
such as the Jerry Lewis Telethon, The Crosby Brothers, The Max Baer Radio
Show from the famous Cliff House in San Francisco, Concerts sponsored by
Yamaha, performances at the Ritz Carlton Hotels in Chicago and San Francisco,
and the Westin St. Francis Hotel. Maynard has entertained up and down the
West Coast, Alaska and the Mid-West for 40 years.
Joining Maynard for the evening were a variety of talent from Redeemer. Maynard said “After 64 years of practice maybe I’ll finally get it right…” He was right. Everyone
had a great time and are looking forward to next year. |
