The Christian Care Umbrella
Redeemer's Christian Care Ministries are diverse and offer help and caring to others in our parish and wider community. Christian care is most fundamentally a relationship—a ministry of compassionate presence. This was Jesus' caring stance toward all people, especially those who were hurting or in need. Our Christian Care Ministries is an umbrella ministry that includes Meals in Crisis, BeFrienders, Stamping Angels, Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick and Home Bound, Transportation, Bereavement Services and Redeemer Cares.
Why do we do it?
"In the Church, there is a diversity of ministry but unity of mission. To the apostles and their successors, Christ has entrusted the office of teaching, sanctifying and governing in his name and by his power. Lay people, too, sharing in the priestly, prophetical and kingly office of Christ, play their part in the mission of the whole people of God in the Church and in the World."
The Second Vatican Council (1965)
Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, #2
"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such
sacrifices God is pleased." Hebrews 13:16
